For over 4 decades, the founder and pastor of Christ Apostolic Temple, Inc., the late Bishop
Jeremiah Reed and his beautiful wife, Dr. Willie Mae Reed, established a culture of giving within their
local community, surrounding Polk County area, as well as across the nation and world-wide. The mantle
has now been handed down to Bishop Dwight Reed, to continue his father’s legacy of Christian love and
stewardship.

In April of this year (2018), Pastor Reed launched Christ Apostolic Temple Community Outreach
Services (CATCOS) to help meet the needs of vulnerable individuals locally, nationally and overseas.
CATCOS has sponsored and participated in several projects and initiatives that have impacted children,
families, elderly, and homeless. CATCOS is motivated by the love of God that is clearly expressed in St.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

We realize that many of the people in our community come from low income, working class
families who often are hindered from experiencing the joy and good will that many of us take for
granted during the Holiday Season. The stats show that the unemployment rate in our community and
surrounding Polk County areas is higher than the overall unemployment rate for the state of Iowa. And
18.9% percent of residence in CATCOS’s local 50316 zip code area live below the poverty line, while less
than 12% (11.6%) state wide live below the poverty line.

We are motivated, engaged and mobilized to create and sustain an ambiance of joy, peace and
love for those who are looking to us for help. CATCOS believes we can impact our community through
our effectual and heartfelt efforts; while demonstrating genuine Christian love and stewardship.
We invite you to join us as we strive to warm the hearts and cheer the souls of those we reach out to
serve in our local community, country and throughout the world.
